With the tremendous proliferation and staying power of anime, it's no surprise that more and more U.S. anime fans and Para Para enthusiasts are now becoming familiar with talented singer/song writer Yoko Ishida, whose beautifully smooth voice is heard on the theme songs of many recent and popular anime shows. And the timing looks right, as Yoko is set to spearhead the ANIME FUSION TOUR, kicking off in September 2005. This special tour will feature Yoko performing many of her popular Para Para Max songs and she'll be accompanied by Para Para dancers.
Yoko has had a lifelong love for singing since childhood, and while she never envisioned a singing career, her dreams did become a reality when she was discovered at an anime singer contest. That early break helped open doors into the music industry and eventually led to her pro debut song, "Maiden's Policy" for the Sailor Moon R TV series. Yoko's dynamic and expressive singer's voice also made her the perfect fit as the featured vocalist on Geneon Entertainment's Para Para Max CD series (Now released in the U.S. as the Para Para Max U.S. Mix CDs). From there, she developed into one of the anime industrys' hardest-working female singers, performing the signature theme songs to series such as Pretear, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar, Ai Yori Aoshi, Petite Princess Yucie, Gunparade March, Ai Yori Aoshi~Enishi~ and Texhnolyze. In 2003, Yoko's first full-length album, "sweets," was released in Japan, with the unique distinction of having a separate, U.S. version released that same year to anime fans.
In 2004, Yoko performed "Pieces of Summer Color," the theme song to the GAINAX series, This Ugly and Beautiful World and launched the Hyper Yocomix album, featuring more popular anime songs set to a Eurobeat mix. Lightning struck twice, as Yoko was "discovered" again, this time by a U.S. video game producer, who had attended her summer concert and presented her the opportunity to perform the ending theme song, "Foolish Dream," on Vivendi Universal Games' Red Ninja: End of Honor (for the PS2 and Xbox videogames released in late March 2005). Yoko's recent song, "OPEN YOUR MIND ~spread the small wings~," can be heard as the opening theme on the new Ah! My Goddess TV series.
When she's not recording in a studio, practicing the piano, learning English lessons, or getting both of her Japan and U.S. official fanclub websites (www.clubsweets.com) updated, Yoko can be found as an assistant host for a popular radio broadcast program (Okui Masami Kiss 3) with friend and colleague Masami Okui. And with her latest album, "Yoko Ishida - All of Me," released March 2005 in Japan (May 2005 in the U.S.) and the ANIME FUSION TOUR kicking off in September, Yoko continues to reach out, touch and captivate all with the beautiful sound of her voice.
